Production times

The manufacture of 4 production beds a day requires the labour of 8 workers working an 8 hr day = 64 hrs per day.

The length of time needed for the various working phases is:

1)  Detensioning of the production beds:
2
hrs
2)  Cutting of the elements:
6
hrs
3)  Removal of the elements from the production beds:
4
hrs
4)  Laying of the steel wires:
4
hrs
5)  Stressing of the steel wires:
6
hrs
6)  Concrete casting:
20
hrs
7)  Cleaning of the machinery:
2
hrs
8)  Yard handling:
15
hrs
TOT.
64
Man hrs

All workers must be properly organized in their appropriate operation schedules in order to avoid obstructing each other’s tasks

We can therefore deduce from the above paragraph that the labour requirements for the various types of elements are as follows:

Hollow Core Slabs

  • Daily production: 576 m²
  • Labour time required: 64 hrs = 3840 mins.
    3840 mins. ÷ 576 = 6 mins. and 40 s/m²
  • Therefore the incidence of labour on every sqm of panel is:
    about 7 mins.

Inverted T-beams

  • Daily production: 4800 linear metres
  • Labour time required: 64 hrs = 3840 mins.
    3840 mins. ÷ 4800 = 48 s/linear metre
  • Therefore the incidence of labour on every linear meter of inverted T-beams is: about 48 secs
